The Royal Kona Resort's Third Annual Don the Beachcomber Mai Tai Festival held August 13, 2011 was a huge success. Thirty professional bartenders from Scotland, Slovakia, California, Nevada, New York, Washington State, and Hawaii competed for $10,000 cash prize and title of creator of the World's Best Mai Tai. Christina Maffei representing Trump Waikiki was crowned champion for her Ilikea's Mai Tai.  Festival attendees also had the opportunity to taste and vote for the World's Best BBQ and shop local vendors at the Mai Tai Marketplace. Entertainment was provided by local renowned artist Henry Kapono, and alternative rock band Spin Doctors. Mick Fleetwood, founder of Fleetwood Mac, added his musical talents by joining both bands for a few songs.
